Margaret M. Hill Seidita Kana 1933-2024

CANFIELD — Margaret M. Hill Seidita Kana, 90, passed away peacefully, Sunday evening, April 28, 2024, with her family by her side in the comforts of home.

Margaret was born Nov. 30, 1933, in Youngstown, the daughter of the late Joseph and Anna Durica Hill, and was a lifelong area resident.

She was a 1952 graduate of East High School and devoted her adult life to nurturing and caring for her family. In addition to her role as a homemaker, Margaret spent over 20 years working as a wrapper at Gorant Candies.

Margaret’s faith was a cornerstone of her life and she was an active member of St. Michael Church in Canfield. She dedicated her time to serving with the altar guild, embodying her commitment to her faith community.

Beyond her familial and religious duties, Margaret found joy in a variety of hobbies and activities. Whether it was crafting ceramics, sewing or indulging in her love for cross-stitch, Margaret’s creativity knew no bounds. She also enjoyed the thrill of bowling and the adventure of traveling with her beloved husband. Margaret found solace in nature, spending cherished moments boating and relaxing at her cabin at Lake Milton.

Margaret is survived by her husband of 58 years, James Joseph Kana, whom she married May 21, 1966; her son, Frank Seidita of Youngstown; her two daughters, Diane (Michael) Seidita-Hoops of Salem and Shari Kana of Salem; eight grandchildren, Frank Seidita, Erin (Ken) Buddy, Richelle (Joe) Bettura, Tony Seidita, Brandi Hoops, Brittany Hoops, Cheyenne (Dillon) Rhodes and Spencer Hoops; nine great-grandchildren, Kellan, Kaylee, Parker, Christopher, Maddie, Reese, Regan, Angela and Joe; a daughter-in-law, Shirley Seidita of Youngstown; two sisters-in-law, Laurie Hill of Middletown and Terry Hill of Washington; several nieces and nephews; and many extended family members.

Margaret will be dearly missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved her.

Her first husband, Anthony Joseph Seidita; a son, Rich Seidita; a granddaughter, Cherí Hoops; four brothers, Joseph, Robert, James and Michael Hill; and a sister-in-law, Bee Hill, preceded Margaret in death.

Family and friends may gather to pay respects 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, May 3, 2024, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Road., Youngstown, where a memorial service will take place at 6 p.m.
