David Smith 1945-2024

He was born Jan. 9, 1945, in Warren, to Ralph Smith and Wanda Brown Smith.

In his educational journey, David was a proud 1962 graduate of Howland High School and went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree from Youngstown State University.

David proudly served his country in the Air Force before transitioning to a role as a carrier, and then a supervisor at the U.S. Post Office in Youngstown. He eventually retired in 2008 after years of hard work and dedication to his profession.

David was a faithful member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in McDonald, where he served on parish council.

David was known for his passion for the Pittsburgh Steelers and Cleveland Indians, being an avid fan and always cheering them on during games.

David is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Kathleen White Smith of Girard; his sons, Scott (Heidi) Smith, Jeffrey (Shannon) Smith and Dr. Daniel (Shelley) Smith; as well as his grandchildren, Matthew, Meghan, Ryan, Zachary, Justin, Allison and Bradley. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A visitation will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 29, 2024, followed by Mass at 11 a.m., at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in McDonald, to honor and celebrate the life of David Smith.

David will be laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Food Pantry, 618 Ohio Ave., McDonald, OH 44437.
