Mary Margaret ‘Peg’ Kramer 1924-2024

BOARDMAN — Mary Margaret “Peg” McFadden Kramer went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, April 21, 2024, just four months short of her 100th birthday.

She was born Aug. 14, 1924, in Youngstown, and claims her first alcoholic drink was to celebrate VJ Day, her 21st birthday.

Peg was married to Robert H. “Bob” Kramer on Sept. 6, 1947. Together they raised a family of six children in a loving and busy home — Robert (Dr. Ursula Wagner, deceased), Karen (Ronald, deceased) Mason, Lawrence (Michelle), Thomas (Jacqueline), Kenneth (Jennifer) and Margaret (Jack) McLaughlin. She was a loving grandmother to 20 and great-grandmother to 12, finding immense joy in both roles. She was also extremely proud of her Irish heritage.

Peg was the daughter of Ellen Sweeney McFadden and Daniel McFadden. She was predeceased by siblings, James (Jean) McFadden, Eileen (Daniel) Mullen, John (Doris) Mc Fadden, Kathleen McFadden, Robert (Ellen) McFadden and Rosemary (Richard) Doyle. She was a loving aunt to countless nieces and nephews.

Before Bob’s death in 2002, they enjoyed many years of golfing together and with other couples. After his passing, she continued her love of golf in several women’s leagues, achieving a hole-in-one at age 83. She finally “retired” her clubs at age 94.

Peg graduated from Ursuline High School in 1942 and loved the annual Ursuline / Cardinal Mooney (her children’s alma mater) football rivalry. During the years she raised her children, she was active in many school and church activities.

Peg was a woman of faith with a strong devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. She and Bob were charter members of St Luke Parish, where she remained a parishioner until her death.

The family will accept friends 9 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 27, 2024, at Fox Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m., at St. Luke Catholic Church, both in Boardman.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to The Society of the Divine Word, 1985 Waukegan Road, Techny, IL 60082; or Sr. Paulanne’s Needy Family Fund c/o Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 1775 Grove St., Glenview, IL 60025.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Edward J. Fox & Sons Funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman. Family and friends of Peg may visit www.foxfuneralhome.org to view this obituary and to leave condolences for the Kramer family.
