Martha Antoinette Riccardo 1939-2024

YOUNGSTOWN — Martha Antoinette “Toni” Riccardo, a lifelong resident of Youngstown, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, April 10, 2024, with family members at her side. She leaves a huge hole in the hearts of her family and friends, who were always entertained by her love for life and youthful enthusiasm, but she loved life and her spirit will live on.

Toni was born Dec. 12, 1939, to Giacomo and Stefanina Riccardo, on the South Side of Youngstown. She graduated from South High School in 1957, and immediately joined the workforce. She worked most of her life and was both loyal and dependable. If there was one thing Toni was, it was giving. No matter the request, she gave her all to ensure that others were taken care of and pleased with her.

She was beloved by everyone who met her, a compassionate person, great friend and devoted aunt. Her Facebook and text messages are legendary for their grammatical confusion and use of the “thumbs up” emoji! She was fiercely loyal to family and friends. As a music lover, she is the early reason her nieces and nephews shared that love. Old family movies show her teaching her nieces and nephews dance steps. She was very sharp with mathematical numbers, which led her to spend her working years as a bookkeeper for local hospitals and various businesses.

Toni is survived by her nephews, Vince (Colleen), Jim (Jill) and Stephen; and niece, Stephanie Havrilla (Rick), all of Youngstown, whom she saw frequently and who loved her deeply. She is also survived by great-nieces and -nephews, Vincent, Rachel, Ricky, Jenna, Leah, A.J, Nina and Jace. Toni loved keeping tabs on them and following their academic and athletic accomplishments.

She is now free of pain and at restful peace with her parents, Giacomo and Stefanina; and siblings, Mary, Martin and Vincent. She missed them dearly and it’s comforting to know they are all now reunited.

Family and friends may briefly gather at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, at St. Christine Roman Catholic Church, 3165 S. Schenley Ave., Youngstown, OH 44511. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, at the church.

Mass will be followed by burial in Calvary Cemetery.
