Lillian Fabry 1935-2024

Together again

YOUNGSTOWN — Lillian Fabry, 88, passed away Wednesday afternoon, April 10, 2024, at Woodlands at Hampton Woods, with her family by her side.

Lillian was born April 15, 1935, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Dutko Mayor, and was a lifelong area resident.

She graduated from Chaney High School in 1953 and went on to work at Murphy Mart and later at Ames for many years until her retirement. Throughout her career, she balanced her professional responsibilities with unwavering dedication to raising and caring for her family.

Mrs. Fabry was a member of the former Our Lady of Hungary Church and currently a member of St. Christine Church.

In her leisure time, Lillian found joy in simple pleasures. She had a passion for camping and made it a point to listen to polka music every Sunday, finding comfort and happiness in its lively melodies. She also enjoyed watching “The Young and the Restless” each afternoon.

Lillian’s love for her family knew no bounds and she treasured the moments spent with them above all else. During her younger years, she also found enjoyment in bowling, participating in various leagues and earning the affectionate nickname “Diamond Lil” from her fellow bowlers.

Lillian is survived by her two daughters, Roseann (Ronald) Carabbia of Struthers and JoAnn (Michael) Marquette, with whom she made her home; and her beloved cat, Katie, who brought her endless companionship and comfort.

Lillian’s presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, but her memory will be cherished forever.

Her husband of 63 years, John J. Fabry Jr., whom she married Oct. 13, 1956, passed away March 16, 2020.

A brother, Joseph Mayor, also preceded Lillian in death.

Family and friends may call 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Road, Youngstown.
