Kathy J. Kihm 1953-2024

She was born Nov. 18, 1953, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Michael Chichak and Dolores Beautus Chichak, and was a 1972 graduate of Austintown Fitch High School.

She was an administrative assistant at Community Corrections Association for 25 years before retiring.

Kathy married her husband, David Kihm, on Aug. 26, 2000, after her best friend, Sue Grove, set them up on a blind date back on July 14, 1991. The rest you could say is history.

Kathy enjoyed many things in her life, such as her cats, feeding the wildlife in her backyard, gardening, a deep passion for flowers, spending time with her family and enjoyed the occasional cocktail, especially Kahlua.

Kathy leaves behind to cherish her memory and carry on her love, her husband; her son, Christopher (Vicki) Barton Sr.; stepdaughters, Jessie (Howard Patterson) Canavan and Melissa (Daniel) Knupp; and five grandchildren, Christopher (Bailee) Barton Jr., Kiernan Canavan, Kaia Canavan, Connor Knupp and Caylee Knupp.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and a sister, Barbara Tusin.

Friends and family may call 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at Lane Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel, with a service to immediately follow.

A celebration of Kathy’s life will take place at a later date.
