Emerson W. Shick 1937-2024

VIENNA — Emerson William Shick, 87, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 11, 2024.

He was born Feb. 8, 1937, to the late Elbert and Clara Hollenbaugh Shick in Armstrong County, Pa.

Emerson was a 1956 graduate of Dayton High School in Dayton, Pa. He went on to serve in the U.S. Army. He married the love of his life, Dolores Heffron Shick on June 12, 1965; she survives him after 58 years of blissful marriage.

Emerson worked as a welder for Amweld Building Products in Niles for 35 years before his retirement in 2001.

He enjoyed many activities, such as Bible studies with his friends, playing chicken foot with his family, gardening, woodworking, jigsaw puzzles and reading. He also was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Youngstown before its closing and went on to become a member of Gethsemane Lutheran Church in North Jackson.

Emerson leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife, Dolores; his daughter, Luanne (Daniel Sr.) Shick Fox of Austintown; and five grandchildren, Daniel Jr. (Allison), Michael, Jeffrey (Chrysann), Klarissa and Patrick. He also was eagerly awaiting the birth of his first great-grandchild, a little girl, Haisley. He also leaves behind five furbabies.

Emerson was preceded in death by his parents and his in-laws, as well as a fur-grandbaby.

Family and friends may call 3 to 5 p.m. Friday, April 26, 2024, with a service to immediately follow at Lane Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Emerson’s name to Gethsemane Lutheran Church, or simply plant some flowers in his honor.
