Samuel A. DeMar Jr. 1954-2024

BOARDMAN — It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Samuel A. DeMar Jr., 69, who departed this world Sunday, March 24, 2024, at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital.

Sam was born Nov. 29, 1954, in Youngstown, the son of the late Lillian and Samuel A. DeMar Sr. Despite the many obstacles life presented to Sam, he was a very accomplished and skilled tradesman, a graduate of Howland High School and The Culinary Institute of America. His quick wit and mischievous charm made him the life of every gathering. He had a propensity to make everyone around him laugh. He was a great brother who was always there for his sisters to “fix this” or to “do that.” You could often find Sam working on his 1974 Corvette or watching tennis for hours on ESPN.

Sam was very much loved and will be greatly missed by his daughter, Arianna Jordan; grandson, Jack J. Little of St. Louis, Missouri; and three sisters, Sherry A. DeMar of Poland, and Charlene Taylor and Charisse Ricciutti, both of Boardman.

In addition to his parents, Sam was preceded in death by his brother, Patrick DeMar; grandson, Kevin A. DeMar; brothers-in-law, Larry G. Taylor Sr. and David Ricciutti; nephews, Larry G. Taylor Jr., Jason A. Taylor and Ryan D. Ricciutti; and his beloved cat, Chloe.

In honoring Sam’s memory, let us celebrate the laughter, the love and the joy he brought into our lives. Though he may not be with us, his spirit will live on in the countless fond memories and the stories we may share. Sam was one of a kind, and we wouldn’t have had him any other way.

The family will receive relatives and friends 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 28, 2024, followed by a 7 p.m. funeral service, celebrated by Pastor James Leone, at the Rossi Brothers and Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Ave. in Boardman.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations be made to Animal Charity Humane Society, 4140 Market St., Boardman, OH 44512.

Family and friends are encouraged to offer prayers for the family and support via phone call, text, email or may visit the Book of Memories at www.rossifunerals.com.
