Elaine M. Fleischer 1936-2024

BOARDMAN — Elaine M. Fleischer, 87, passed away peacefully on Friday evening, March 1, 2024, at Caprice Healthcare in North Lima.

Elaine was born on July 9, 1936 in Youngstown, the daughter of Wilbur and Leona Sternagle Goodman. Graduating from Berlin Center High School in 1954, Elaine was a lifelong area resident. She worked as a nurse’s aide at Northside Medical Center and later worked as the assistant manager of the Isaly’s Store on Glenwood Avenue. Elaine retired in 2000, after working for 10 years as a babysitter. On Aug. 16, 1958, Elaine married the love of her life, John A. “Jack” Fleischer.

Elaine and her family belonged to St. Dominic Church, where she was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. She was also a member of the Sam Camen Senior Citizen Center. Elaine was a devoted mother and friend, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Elaine was greatly loved and will always be remembered by her son, John Alan (Sharon) Fleischer of Plymouth, Michigan; along with many loving friends and relatives.

Besides her parents, Elaine was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Fleischer; and a brother, Ronald (Betty) Goodman.

Family and friends may visit and pay tribute to Elaine from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday evening, March 6, 2024 at the Thompson Filicky Funeral Home of Boardman, 4221 Market St.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 7, 2024 at Holy Family Parish, 2729 Center Road, Poland, OH 44514, with the Rev. John Rovnak presiding.

A private burial will follow in Ellsworth Township Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made, in Elaine’s name, to Fresenius Kidney Care North Lima, 9174 Market St., North Lima, OH 44452; or Akeso Hospice, 6600 Summit Drive, Canfield, OH 44406. A special thanks goes to the staff of Caprice Healthcare and Akeso Hospice for the loving care that Elaine and her family received.
