Charles R. Replogle III 1946-2024

POLAND — Charles Raymond Replogle III, 78, passed away Wednesday, March 13, 2024, while in St. Helena Island, South Carolina.

He was born Jan. 5, 1946, in Akron to Charles and Betty Telford Replogle. Known to many as a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend, he leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness and a passion for all things adventurous.

Charles was a graduate of Poland Seminary High School in 1964 and Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, in 1968. A proud Marine, Charles graduated from Parris Island in 1969 and served in the Marines Reserve for seven years. He began his sales career at his father’s car dealership in New Castle, Pa.., where he developed a lifelong love of cars. After several years in the car industry, he later worked in filtration sales for Aero-Chem / Tri-Dim just recently retiring in January of 2023.

He was a car enthusiast, a traveler and a member of various social groups like the Gyro / Hyro Club, the Friday lunch group and the New Middletown breakfast group. He loved to ski and made sure each of the grandchildren were well taught and ready for ski trips out West, most recently to Colorado in 2019. He also found great joy in motor home trips, big and small. This past summer, he and Dianne checked off the last of the 48 states in the RV and completed a Pacific Northwest journey with the kids and grandkids. He took great joy in the endeavors of his grandchildren and was their biggest fan for any activity they were involved in. A lifetime lover of dogs, he also assisted in various area dog rescue groups.

Known for his sharp dressing and love of a good sale, he was always ready to assist in finding that great deal. Charles also was a skilled handyman and ready to help in any way he could.

He is survived by his loving wife, Dianne; daughters, Lori van Rossem (James) and Alicia Williams (Ryan); grandchildren, Han van Rossem, Joshua Charles van Rossem, Nathaniel Williams and Leanne Williams; and sister, Rhonda Ross, and her children, Travis and Brett. He will be deeply missed by many additional nieces and nephews, as well as sister-in-law, Janet Elia; brother-in-law, Ronald (Sue) Violante; childhood friend, David Yerian; and his four-legged friends, Sammy and Symon.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A celebration of life will be Thursday, May 9, 2024, at the Elton Beard Cabin in Boardman Park, 375 Boardman-Poland Road, Boardman OH, 44514. The service will start at 7 p.m., and desserts and coffee will be served following.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to a charity of your choice in his memory. He also would encourage you to plan an adventure with your loved ones.

Charles will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
