Sandra L. Gilmore 1940-2024

Mrs. Gilmore was born Nov. 26, 1940, in Warren, a daughter of the late Robert and Beatrice Grubham Bissell. She was a 1958 graduate of Niles McKinley High School.

She married her husband, James F. Gilmore, Oct. 8, 1960; he passed away Aug. 30, 2020.

Sandra and her husband owned and operated J. Gilmore Design, Cortland. During her 57 years of employment, she worked as a designer and ran the retail store at Green Gate. She was still working and contributing to the business daily. Her creativity ran deep and she still enjoyed decorating and flower arranging.

She enjoyed their many winters in Naples, Florida, playing bocce and gathering with the friends they made there. Sandra also loved walking her dog, Bear, and her five o’clock glass of wine. Bart wants to thank all the friends that socialized with her and welcomed her to join them at our local restaurants nightly.

She leaves behind two children, Bart J. Gilmore and his wife, JoAnn, of Cortland; and Jacinda F. Mansell and her husband, Marc, of Texas; and two grandchildren, Foster J. Gilmore and Moss Mansell.

In keeping with Sandra’s wishes, there are no services.

Material contributions may be made to Healthy Hearts and Paws Project, Brookfield, where Sandy rescued her Bear.
