Jawaylan T. Patterson 1993-2024

YOUNGSTOWN — Mr. Jawaylan T. Patterson, 30, transitioned from earth to be present with the Lord, on Saturday, Jan. 13, 2024, while working at his place of employment.

Jawaylan, lovingly known as “Way,” was born May 1, 1993, in Youngstown, to Tineka Patterson and Joseph Allen Sr. He attended East High School. He knew and loved God, his Heavenly Father, and loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed watching football and was an avid Baltimore Ravens fan.

A bright and shining star, Jawaylan had a beautiful smile. He was a loving soul who would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. He had compassion for people in need and would volunteer and donate his time and money with the “Youngstown United As One” (a nonprofit charitable organization). He had a passion for music and in his free time would write songs and record in the studio. Jawaylan had quite a sense of humor and people would follow him on social media just to share their laughter with him.

Providing for his family was of great importance to Jawaylan. He was a dedicated and committed employee with Ellwood Engineered Castings for six years, laboring in various departments.

Jawaylan’s footprints will be embroidered forever in our hearts. He will be greatly missed by his loving parents, Tineka Patterson and Joseph Allen; two adorable children, Ja’Layna and Jawaylan Jr. Patterson; a devoted fiancee, Natacha Pinero; loving siblings, Kewuan (Linda) Patterson, Joseph Allen Jr., Christopher Allen, Tamia Patterson, Dominique Johnson, Mirrah Justice and Brionna Winlock; his wonderful grandparents, Cassandra Hunter and Henry Patterson; great-grandmother, Katherine Patterson; and a host of nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.

Welcoming him at Heaven’s Gates were his great-grandparents, James and Pearlie May Edmonds, and Henry Patterson; and his grandma, Nanette “Nanny” Ambrose.

“To be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.” II Corinthians 5:8

The family would like to extend their profound love and gratitude to all who have supported them during this difficult time.

Visitation will be 11 a.m. to noon Thursday, Jan. 25, 2024, at Fifth Avenue Community Church, 1361 Fifth Ave., Youngstown. Funeral services will follow at noon. Burial will take place in Tod Homestead Cemetery.

Ministry of comfort, love and dignity entrusted to the L. E. Black, Phillips & Holden Funeral Home.
