Daniel J. Diorio Jr. 1973-2024

YOUNGSTOWN — Daniel J. “Danny” Diorio Jr., 50, passed away Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 24, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.

Danny will always be remembered by his family and friends for his outgoing personality, sense of humor, kindness and generosity.

He was born Sept. 16, 1973, in Youngstown, the son of Daniel J. Sr. and Jody Calipare Diorio, and was a lifelong area resident.

Danny was a 1991 graduate of Cardinal Mooney High School, where he was a two-year letterman in baseball, and then continued his education at Toledo University and Youngstown State University.

He was employed with RL Lipton Distributing as a merchandiser, along with being a bartender.

Danny was a huge NASCAR fan, especially of Kurt Busch, and looked forward to participating in IRacing through the internet with his friends. He always loved listening to music and playing acoustic guitar, and had a big interest in the United States Navy and its naval aviation program.

Danny loved dogs, especially Ernie, Molly and Abbey.

Danny leaves behind to hold onto his memories, his parents, Daniel J. Sr. and Jody Diorio; his godmother and aunt, Cheryl Grischow; his godfather and uncle, William D. (Maleen) Diorio; and his aunt, Donna (John) Carbon; along with cousins and friends.

Danny was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Joseph and Betty Calipare; and paternal grandparents, Daniel P. and Louise Diorio.

Family and friends may pay their respects 10 to 10:50 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 1, 2024, in the chapel of St. Charles Borromeo Church, 7345 Westview Drive, Boardman, where a funeral Mass will follow at 11 a.m., with Father Steve Zeigler as celebrant.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4221 Market St., Boardman.

Danny’s family would like to thank the staff of the MICU and the SICU unit of St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital, for all the care and compassion shown to Danny and to them throughout this difficult time.
