Pia DiCola Bruno 1934-2023

She was born Oct. 7, 1934, in Barrea, Italy, the daughter of Renato and Annapace Guira DiCola.

Pia was employed at Our Lady of Mount Carmel School cafeteria, and also at Scarnecchia’s and Mollica’s Catering in Niles.

She was a lifelong member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish in Niles, Blessed Mother Society and a festival volunteer. She enjoyed casino trips, bingo, cooking and crocheting.

Her husband, Tommaso Bruno, whom she married June 2, 1956, died Aug. 24, 2014.

She will be deeply missed by a son, Joseph Bruno and his wife, Heather of Niles; a daughter, Lucrezia Emery and her husband, Ronald of Columbus; a sister Marisella Cappelli of Italy; four grandchildren, Ryan Emery and his wife, Michelle, Carly Emery, Gabriella Bruno and Sophia Bruno; a great-granddaughter, Carolyn Emery; and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Americo DiCola; and a sister, Arcangela DiCola.

Friends may call 9 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Niles.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church.

Burial will be in Pineview Cemetery.

The family would to thank the staff at The Elmwood for their kind and compassionate care for Pia.
