Barbara E. Feher Dvorak 1943-2023

TOLEDO — Barbara Elaine Feher Dvorak, 79, passed away peacefully, Saturday, June 10, 2023, under the care of Hospice, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.

She was born July 13, 1943, in Youngstown, to parents Alex and Helen Feher, and graduated from East High School and Youngstown State University before moving to Toledo to start her career as a social worker with Urban Renewal.

After leaving her job to raise her sons, Barb went back to work in banking and finance, retiring as a loan officer at the Pro-Medica Credit Union in 2020.

Fiercely independent and always impeccably dressed — sporting her high-heeled boots and bright smile — Barb showed up to every occasion: parties, weddings, even funerals, with a ham, a casserole or a plate of her signature cookies.

Known to so many of her “adopted” grandchildren, nieces and nephews as “Grandma Barb,” “Aunt Barb” or “G-Babs,” she treated everyone she met with a kindness and selflessness that endeared her to so many.

She loved books, music, a glass of wine and a spirited discussion on the politics of the day. A longtime member of Gesu Parish and a strong supporter of St. Francis High School, Barb volunteered her time at both institutions over the years. She had several lifelong friends and made many new ones along the way, and her kind spirit will definitely be missed.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; Alex and Helen Feher’ goddaughter and niece, Rachel Sheridan; ex-husband, Bob Dvorak; and brother and sister-in-law, Edward and Ann Marie Dvorak. She is survived by her sons, Rob (Beth) Dvorak and Steve (Mary Kate) Dvorak; brother, Andy (Linda) Feher; beloved grandchildren, Donovan, Ethan, Jameson, Lily, Dylan and Evelyn; and several nieces and nephews, Matt, Autumn, Denise, Doug, Dale, Diane and Dean.

A funeral Mass in honor of Barbara will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 13, 2023, at Gesu Church in Toledo. Family will visit with friends at the church, beginning at 10 a.m. A reception will follow, in the Sullivan Center, after the service concludes.

Donations in Barbara’s honor can be made to Gesu Church, 2049 Parkside Blvd., Toledo, OH 43607; or to the St. Francis de Sales High School Foundation, 2323 W. Bancroft, Toledo, OH 43607, or online at https://www.sfsknights.org/support.
