Adelaide M. Ragozine-Butler 1948-2023

WARREN — We are deeply saddened to announce that Tuesday, July 18, 2023, Adelaide “Lydie” M. Ragozine-Butler earned her angel wings, along with a pair of dancing shoes, and danced her way to Heaven, with her nails and hair on point.

Adelaide was born April 28, 1948, to Sam and Lucille Infante Ragozine. She was a 1966 graduate of Niles McKinley High School.

Before graduating, she received her cosmetology license at the age of 15. Lydie’s love of fashion and beauty always stood out. She was the life of the party and could always be found on the dance floor. Lydie loved being a “Nunnie” and loved her grandsons deeply. They were her pride and joy. She had a heart of gold and on Christmas she made sure everyone had a gift to open.

Lydie was a Taurus, a bull, a fighter, like her father. Her faith in God and dedication to prayer were immeasurable. No matter how rough things were, she always said, “God will get us through this.” Our mother will be deeply missed and forever loved. “Mom, we hope your grapes are cold and crispy and we hope you find the biggest garage sale ever!”

She is survived by her two daughters, Marnie (Steve) Martini and “the favorite,” Rochelle “Shell” Chamberlain, both of Howland; her four grandsons, Jeffrey (Elizabeth) McCauley Jr., Cross Scarpaci and twins, Vincent and Nicholas Chamberlain; along with two great-granddaughters, Harlow Adelaide and Evalina. Additionally, she is survived by four brothers, David Ragozine, Anthony (Sandy) Ragozine, Larry (Janet) Ragozine and Sandy (Caren) Ragozine; and many nieces and nephews.

Adelaide was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Lucille Ragozine; along with her sister-in-law, Diana Ragozine.

Friends may call 9 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 22, 2023, at the Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home, Niles. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Niles, preceded by a 10:30 a.m. prayer service at the funeral home.

Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery.
