Robert R. Palotsee Sr. 1930-2022
Together again
YOUNGSTOWN — Robert R. Palotsee Sr., 92, passed away on Wednesday evening, Oct. 19, 2022, at Briarfield Manor Rehab.
Robert was born on Aug. 15, 1930, in Youngstown. He is a son of John and Julia Balint Palotsee. Bobby was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School, class of 1949. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in the Korean Conflict.
Robert was a welder for a fabricating company and a member of the Holy Apostles Parish/St. Stephen of Hungary Church. He was a member of the Holy Name Society, where he was past president and the St. Vincent de Paul Organization. Bobby was a former member of the dance group at the church. His family were founding members of St. Stephen of Hungary Church.
He enjoyed doing handyman work for himself and his family.
Robert married Janet Ann Merdich on Nov. 26, 1960 and she passed away May 23, 2019.
He is survived by two sons, Robert Palotsee Jr. of Weirton, W.Va. and Michael (Patti) J. Palotsee of Canfield; and two daughters, Jennifer (Darcie) Palotsee of Erie, Pa. and Cindy (Mike) Bakos of Austintown. Bobby leaves seven grandchildren, Dennis, Donny, Jacob, Kylie, Colin, Landon and Larissa. He is also survived by one sister, Evelyn Horvath of Austintown.
Besides his wife, Robert was preceded in death by his parents; and three sisters, Dorothy Pitlik, Frances Horvath and Betty Jean Palotsee.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2022, at Szabo and Sons Funeral Home, and 11 a.m. at St. Peter and Paul Croatian Church. Friends and family may call from 5 p.m to 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 24, 2022 at the funeral home.
Robert’s family would like to thank Briarfield Manor Rehab and Hospice of the Valley for the excellent care given to Bobby.
