Amy Lynn Barr 1955-2022
ARLINGTON, Va. — Amy Lynn Beamer Barr, 66, died suddenly Saturday, May 7, 2022, at her residence.
Amy was born and raised in Girard. The only child of Howard and Pauline Coleman Beamer, she spent her youth as an active Girl Scout and school marching band member. Amy was a 1973 graduate of Girard High School.
Amy was a member of the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls, Girard Assembly No. 176, serving in many offices, including secretary. Amy was a 48-year member of the Sunrise Chapter Order of Eastern Star No. 458.
In adulthood, Amy was an analyst for the federal government’s immigration department and a dedicated member of Clarendon United Methodist Church for over 40 years, where she was a member of the church choir. Amy was also a devoted volunteer with the Arlington County Police Department for 20 years.
Her husband, Richard L. Barr, preceded her in death Sept. 22, 2021. She leaves behind a goddaughter, Christyna M. Hunter of Lovettsville, Va.
Visitation was held Thursday, May 26, 2022, at Murphy Funeral Homes, Arlington, Va. Services were held Friday, May 27, 2022, at Clarendon United Methodist Church.
