He was a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity and graduated from the University of Pittsburgh. He earned MDiv and DMin degrees from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. In 1957, he was ordained at the Buckhorn Presbyterian (USA) Church in Masonville, Colo. He served parishes in Danville, Ill., Kendallville, Ind., Fort Wayne, Ind., Detroit, Mich., Poland, Ohio, and Palm Coast, Fla.
