Richard A. Perrott 1959-2021
HILLSVILLE — Richard Anthony Perrott, 61, passed away peacefully with his family at his side, Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 9, 2021, at Shadyside Hospital.
Mr. Perrott, affectionately known as R.P. and Rich, was born Dec. 12, 1959, in New Castle, Pa., a son of the late Richard and Laura Deltis Perrott.
A 1978 graduate of Mohawk High School, Rich began his career in sales, and later realized his talent for social media advertising. He founded RP Graphics and designed, photographed and managed social media accounts for numerous area businesses.
Rich was a member of Mount Carmel Society in Lowellville, the Johnson Club in Bessemer, and the Mahoning Sportsmen Club, where he liked to fish and boat. Rich was a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, loved music and attended concerts from Billy Joel to Luciano Pavarotti. He was an avid collector of victrolas and had a stellar cigar collection.
A generous, loyal friend with a quick-witted sense of humor, Rich was a natural for throwing a great party. Rich and Sherry’s annual Christmas and July parties were infamous — no expense or food was spared. His best-kept secret was the “Busted Out Cigar Lounge” in the back of his garage, where the “Core Group” would meet a couple times a week and regularly on Sunday for football with Donavito’s catering. For Christmas, the “Core Group” would receive personalized custom-made gifts, from cigars and humidors, to M&Ms with the member’s picture on the candy. Rich was quoted, “some of the best times of our lives were in this smoke-filled tiny room on Main Street in Hillsville.”
Rich leaves his wife, the former Sherry Kelty, whom he married Sept. 23, 2000; mother-in-law, Shirley Kelty of Poland; sisters-in-law, Karen (Richard) Hornyak of Bellville, Mich. and Christine (Michael) Bagnoli of Boardman; brothers-in-law, William (Shari) Kelty of Boardman and John Kelty of Poland; niece, Natalie Hornyak; two nephews, Zachary Bagnoli and godson, Dominic Bagnoli; his special cousins, Carol and Ray Hertz; dogs, Molly and Sophie; and his bird, Bart.
In addition to his parents, Rich was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Edward John Kelty.
A memorial Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 26, 2021, at St. Angela Merici Parish, with the rev. Kevin Peters officiating.
In lieu of flowers and gifts, monetary contributions would be appreciated.
Arrangements are being handled by the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home in Poland. Condolences may be sent at www.beckerobits.com.
