Dora Lewis 1932-2020

YOUNGSTOWN — Dora Diorio Lewis, 88, passed away Sunday, Nov. 22, 2020, due to complications of COVID-19.

She was born Aug. 23, 1932, in Youngstown, a daughter of Orazio and Adeline Nerone Diorio.

She was a 1951 graduate of The Rayen School. She worked at Canale’s Drug Store, where she met the love of her life, Robert E. Lewis, whom she married Sept. 17, 1955 at St. Edward Church. They enjoyed 48 years of marriage until Robert’s passing in 2003.

Dora worked at Ohio One Corp. for 33 years. She was a member of St. Dominic’s Church, the ARCO Club Women’s Auxiliary and the PTA Bowling League. She loved attending the many local Italian festivals every summer with her family.

She lived for her children and grandchildren. She took pride in attending all their sporting events. Dora enjoyed cooking spaghetti dinner every Sunday for her family and baking for the holidays and weddings. She looked forward to going on vacations with her family. She was wealthy in compassion for others.

Dora is survived by two daughters, Lisa Mansell of Struthers and Lori (Jim) Reeder of Austintown; son, Robby Lewis of Youngstown; four grandchildren, David, Alyssa and Anthony Mansell, and Kayla Shaffer; and two great grandchildren, Parker and Anthony. She also leaves two sisters, Viola Castor and Edith Patrick; many nieces and nephews; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert; brother, Nino Diorio; sisters, Beatrice Julian and Lucy Vitello; and two nephews, Frank Julian and her godson, John (Rocky) Castor.

A private Mass of Christian burial was held in her honor at St. Dominic’s Church on Friday, Dec. 4, 2020.
