Wanda L. Brothers 1930-2020
BOARDMAN — Wanda L. Brothers, a lifelong Mahoning County resident, entered into eternal rest Friday, Oct. 9, 2020, five days after her 90th birthday.
She was born Oct. 4, 1930, in North Jackson, the daughter of Harold M. and Ethel Cooper Jones.
A graduate of North Jackson High School, Wanda was a devoted homemaker for her husband, children and their families. She belonged to the Canfield Presbyterian Church and was a former member of the Elks. She enjoyed gardening and following sports, especially the Cleveland Indians, and most of all, enjoyed her time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Precious memories of Wanda live on with her beloved husband of nearly 73 years, Roland N. Brothers, whom she married Feb. 7, 1948; three children, Rick Brothers of Youngstown, Scott Alan Brothers of Youngstown and Joy Bartholomew of Kansas City, Mo.; seven grandchildren, Ashley Lackey (Kyle), Sarah Guza (Matthew), Paige Bartholomew, Joy Combs (Tyler), Stanton Bartholomew (Meagan), Laurel Bartholomew and Jacob Brothers; eight great-grandchildren, London Lackey, Kayne Ross, Audrey Lackey,Victor Lackey, Zoey Lackey, Grace Guza, Kairo Ross and Kendrick Ross; and one sister, Carole Maynard (Charles) of Avon.
Preceding her in death are her parents, Harold and Ethel Jones; two sons, Larry Brothers and an infant son; one grandson, Matthew Brothers; and two brothers, Bud and Bill Jones.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 12, 2020, at Jackson Township Cemetery on state Route 45 in North Jackson with the Rev. Larry Bowald officiating. Interment will follow.
