WHAT: Board of education meeting May 13

PRESENT: Cheryl Kistler, Niki Reid, William Catlin, Rebekah Conn and Michelle Wells

The board:

• Heard a proposal from the athletic boosters who want to use a donated shed that will be remodeled as a concession stand by the track at the high school stadium.

• Heard from Superintendent Greg Bonamase that the planetarium in the high school will be used for the 2026-27 year by high school and elementary students, with staff getting training on its use.

• Announced 24 seniors will graduate at 2 p.m. May 31 at the high school.

• Heard from Bonamase that projects planned for the summer include painting the high school gymnasium and sealing cracks in the parking lot.

• Entered into an agreement with the Nutrition Group for food preparation and menus for both schools. All students receive a free breakfast and lunch. The district has worked with the company for several years.

• Approved a cyber security program guide for the technology department.

WHAT: Village council meeting Monday

PRESENT: Robert Bond, Jessica Blank, Lamar Liming, Mark McGrail, Jamie Moseley, Ron Radtka and Mayor Jackie Woodward

Council:

• Approved having Solicitor Matt Ries file an appeal to the decision last month by the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency’s decision to grant a discharge permit to Clean Energy Future-Trumbull Energy Center. The matter involves concerns by officials of discharge from the company getting into the nearby Mud Creek and its effect on nearby rural properties.

• Heard from police Chief Brent Milhoan of the need to get a new cruiser for the police dog unit, as well as new firearms for the officers.

• Will host a community picnic 1 to 4 p.m. May 16 at Central Park off Salt Springs Road and a Memorial Day service 10 a.m. May 25 at the cemetery.

• Hired Brock Pyles, Vince Spano, Lucas McCloud and Philip Fisher as summer park workers.

• Will host a scrap tire collection June 8 to 15.

• Announced the Trumbull Mobile Market will be on site 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. May 14 in the parking lot by the administration building.
