Patricia Daniels 1951-2020

TUSCON, Ariz. — Patricia “Pat” Daniels, 68, died peacefully in her Tucson home Sunday, Sept. 27, 2020, following a 15-year battle with scleroderma, an autoimmune disease.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Bette and Joe Durkin. She is survived by her high school sweetheart — her husband Peter Daniels — with whom she was soon to celebrate their 49th wedding anniversary. She is also survived by her sister, Casey Durkin; 11 nieces; three nephews; one great-niece; and one great-nephew. Pat took great delight in being an aunt.

A graduate of Ursuline High School, Pat received her bachelor of science, nursing and master’s degrees from Youngstown State University. Pat worked as a registered nurse for 35 years with specialties in cardiac intensive care and endoscopy. She had a zest for learning. Pat volunteered for years on Youngstown’s Help Hotline, working the crisis phones. Following Pat’s retirement, she and Pete moved to Tucson, where she loved the warmth, blue skies and the clear sunny days.

Pat had a passion for painting and enjoyed gifting her artwork. There are so many things she loved in life, too many to list. Most important, Pat loved the Lord. Bible study was a big part of her life. She loved all the people in her life.

Pat will forever be known for her positive attitude, generosity and her kind and compassionate spirit. Pat was an inspiration to many as she enjoyed life to the fullest.

Due to COVID-19, memorial parties will be held when times are safer – both in Arizona and Youngstown.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Pat’s memory to The Scleroderma Foundation – Ohio Chapter, 1393 NE River Road, Lake Milton, OH 44429-9679. This fund is designated for research, as Pat prayed no one should experience this dreadful disease.
