Donald M. Patrick Sr. 1932-2020

LIBERTY — Donald M. Patrick Sr., 87, of Liberty Township, passed away Friday evening, Aug. 7, 2020, at his residence.

Mr. Patrick was born Sept. 19, 1932, in Farrell, Pa., was a son of Stephen J. and Veronica Malak Patrick, and moved to the area as a child.

He was employed as an agent for the Internal Revenue Service for more than 26 years and retired in 1988.

Mr. Patrick was a South High School graduate and a graduate of Youngstown State University, where he received a bachelor’s degree in accounting.

Mr. Patrick was a member of St. Edward Parish, and he was an usher at the 4:30 p.m. mass on Saturdays.

He was a gymnast for many years and belonged to the Sokol Gymnast Union. Mr. Patrick was physically active throughout his life, enjoyed playing the guitar, and was a big fan of Elvis and country music. He loved his family and had a great sense of humor.

Mr. Patrick was a veteran of the Army and served in the Korean War.

Mr. Patrick leaves to cherish memory, his wife of over 57 years, the former Mary Agatha (Aggie) Zabotsky, whom he married July 27, 1963; sons, Donald (Jamesina) Patrick, Jr. of Struthers and Ronald (Michelle) Patrick of Sewickley, Pa.; sister, Eileen Snider of Austintown; nieces, Tracy (Michael) Markovitch and Christine Owsley; great-niece, Savannah Owsley; and great-nephew, Christian Owsley.

The family will receive relatives and friends at St. Edward Church from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2020, a Mass of Christian burial will follow at 11 a.m., celebrated by Monsignor Robert Siffrin. In keeping with current practices, please wear masks if possible and observe social distancing.

The family has requested, in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Edward Church, 240 Tod Lane, Youngstown, OH 44504, in his memory.
