Dagmar R. Amrhein 1946-2020
YOUNGSTOWN — We are sad to announce the sudden passing of Dagmar R. Amrhein, 73, in her home on Tuesday, July 28, 2020.
She leaves behind her husband, Joseph Copp and her children, Matthew B. Cook, Michael Cook, Derek Cook, Dagmar A. Goleno, Madonna Cook and her adopted daughter, Linda Eileen Golubic; as well as extended family in Germany.
Dagmar was born Dec. 31, 1946, in Lauta, Germany, immigrated to the United States in 1950 and became a citizen in 1957. She settled in Youngstown and was the only daughter of Erwin and Gertrude Amrhein. She was a graduate of South High School and went on to gain her double master’s degrees in art and English at Youngstown State and Seton Hill universities. She took over the family business of Ohio Color, which she operated for more than 30 years in this area.
Dagmar shared her love of art, history and her faith through her teachings as adjunct faculty at YSU and the Mollie Kessler schools, as well as teaching watercolor painting, education on the lives of the saints, photography classes and antique book restoration.
She also shared a great love for her grandchildren, her many friends, her volunteer work and her dogs.
We are having a celebration of her life gathering in her daughter’s home on Thursday, Aug. 6, 2020, from 4 to 6 p.m.
