William P. Devine 1940-2020

BOARDMAN — On Thursday, May 14, 2020, we lost the most incredible man, William P. Devine, after just celebrating his 80th birthday. He passed away peacefully at St. Elizabeth Health Center from a heart condition that he battled for many years.

Bill was born in Youngstown, on May 4, 1940, to Valentine and Mary Brophy Devine.

He attended St. Nicholas School in Struthers, Ursuline High School and Youngstown State University, until being drafted into the Army. Bill proudly served from June 6, 1962, until his honorable discharge June 5, 1964. Bill lived in Florida for 15 years, returning to Ohio in 1998 to be closer to his family.

Bill spent most of his life in the transportation industry, retiring from B&T Express in North Lima. He most recently worked for Midwest Industrial at Vallourec until December 2019.

Bill had many passions through his life. He enjoyed entertaining and socializing with family and friends, attending his grandchildren’s events, showing off the 1972 orange Monte Carlo, attending countless car shows, playing bocce at the MVR and playing cards. He was an avid NASCAR fan and never met a casino he didn’t like.

Bill always kept his sense of humor and wit and had the greatest stories that made people laugh, smile and shake their heads. His children share his wit and will cherish these memories forever.

Bill leaves behind to hold onto his memorie his wife of 39 years, Linda Speziale Devine; his sons, Michael, Brian (Crissy), Sean (Alexis), Daryl and Eric (Angela); daughter, Danielle (Eric); sisters, Mary Jo (Rick) Gorgei and Valerie (Daryl) Hoffman; brothers-in-law, Russ (Lorie) Speziale and Chuck (Vaunda) Speziale; his cherished grandchildren, Michelle, Joey, Andy, Dusty, Jillian, Cole, Natalie, Parker and Annabel; great-granddaughter, Lauren; several nieces and nephews; his longtime friend, Jake Bowmaster; and his car show family, bocce friends and many others.
