Jospeh Lisner 1936-2019

POLAND — Joseph Lisner, 83, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, Dec. 19, 2019, at his home.

Joseph was born in Pakrac, Croatia, March 29, 1936, to Anna and Andrew Lisner.

At 24 he immigrated to America, where he met his soulmate, Carmella Minetti. The two married July 2, 1960. They had a deep love for each other and were always together.

Upon his arrival in America, he helped arrange for his parents, his sister and her family to join him in Ohio.

He was a fourth-generation cabinet maker and he used his talent for woodworking to build Lisner Cabinets, which began in his garage in the early 1970s. He was able to share and teach his craft to his sons and many employees during his 35 years of business.

During this time he built two area landmarks, the gazebo at Fellows Riverside Gardens in Mill Creek Park and the gazebo at Bicentennial Park in Aurora.

He will be remembered for his wildly entertaining stories, his unfailing work ethic, his talent to fix anything and his love for life, fishing, and dancing. He treasured time spent on the lake with his sons and nephews and loved to share stories of their adventures.

He leaves cherished memories to his son, James (Jill) Lisner of Boardman; daughters Annamarie Lancaster of Georgia and Kathleen Scheafknocker of Austintown; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; his sister, Margita (George) Jeges of Struthers; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, and by his son, Joseph Lisner Jr.

A memorial Mass will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 23, 2019, at St. Joseph Parish in Austintown. A celebration of Joe’s life will immediately follow at the church.
