Irma Jean Locke 1925-2019

ESTERO, Fla. — Irma Jean Locke, 93, formerly of Mahoning County, died peacefully Thursday, Oct. 17, 2019, at Hope Hospice in Cape Coral.

Born in 1925 in East Liverpool, she graduated from East Liverpool High School in 1944 and continued her education at the Choffin School of Nursing, receiving her LPN certification. Irma worked as an LPN at Trumbull Memorial Hospital, retiring in 1985.

Irma married her husband, Bernard G. Locke Sr., in 1944, with whom she celebrated 63 years of marriage prior to his death in 2007.

In addition to being a dedicated and loving mother, Irma volunteered as a Cub Scout and Girl Scout leader, was a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows Lodge No. 155 and Park View Rebekah Lodge No. 719 of Canfield. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, completing word puzzles and going to movies and plays with her friends.

Throughout her entire life, she held an unwavering faith in God, which she shared with those who surrounded her.

She is survived by her two son, Bernard G. (Nancy) Locke Jr. of North Jackson and Kenneth Russell (Ruth) Locke of Cape Coral. Irma also leaves behind her sister, Marian Moore of North Royalton; two granddaughters, Suzanne (Jason) Locke of Salem and Victoria (John) McFarland of Austintown; a grandson, Eric (Savannah) Locke Sr. of Niles; and five great-grandchildren, Branden, Cassandra, Kara, Grace and Eric Jr.

A daughter, Sharyl Jane Locke; and an infant son, Richard Paul Locke, preceded her in death.

Friends and family may call 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25, 2019, at Lane Family Funeral Homes, Austintown chapel, and noon to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, 2019, at the funeral home, prior to the service beginning at 1 p.m.
