An arbitrator has ordered The Washington Post to reinstate a black opinion writer fired over social media posts about violent white men following last year’s killing of Charlie Kirk. The ruling Thursday said the newspaper did not have sufficient cause to terminate Karen Attiah, who at the time was the last Black full-time member of the Post’s opinion desk. Staff report YOUNGSTOWN — Because of a number of sinkholes, which often means collapse of a sewer line, a stretch of Indianola Avenue will be closed starting Wednesday for about one week. “The sinkholes showed up so we’ll have to dig it out and look for sewer line issues,” said Charles Shasho, the city’s deputy director of public works. “Typically when there are sinkholes, it’s because a sewer line collapsed. MCDONALD — Village officials have secured over $1 million for sidewalk improvements in the community with work to be done in 2028. Mayor Ray Lewis said the village secured funding from Eastgate Regional Council of Governments for replacement and for new installation of sidewalks in various parts of the community.
