MOUNT CARMEL FESTIVAL: The 26th annual Basilica of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Italian Festival will be Thursday to Sunday at the church grounds, 343 Via Mount Carmel in Youngstown. The festival is 5 to 10 p.m. Thursday, 5 to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday and noon to 9 p.m. Sunday. There will be a live auction, food, music, historical area, Little Prince and Princess pageants and a children’s area. Admission is $5, with children 12 and under free. Maplecrest hosts fundraiser for Alzheimer’s awareness

STRUTHERS — Maplecrest Nursing Home hosted a hot dog drive-thru fundraising event Thursday to support the Alzheimer’s Association’s 2026 Walk to End Alzheimer’s. “All the proceeds are going to the Alzheimer’s Association,” Tiffany Crane, admission coordinator for Maplecrest, said. “That is taking place on Oct. 10 at the Watson and Tressel Training Site down at [Youngstown State University.” The Walk to End Alzheimer’s, also called the Memory Walk, is a nationwide event meant to raise money for patients with Alzheimer’s and to raise awareness of the disease.
