WHAT: Board of Education special meeting Aug. 28
PRESENT: Judy Gozur, Gary Bednarik, Beth Donofrio, Tony Kelly and Tina Tsagaris
The board:
• Approved the purchase of additional furniture for the Campbell Health and Community
Development Center (CHCDC) from Southern Aluminum in the amount of $13,483; from MV Sales in the amount of $58,926.51; and from Amazon in the amount of $9,995.52.
Funding is through the Appalachian Regional Commission. The center opens today.
• Approved an agreement between the Campbell City School District and Supplemental Educational Services, Inc. to provide staff for delivery of Title I services to Campbell students who attend St.Nicholas School in Struthers in the amount of $10,590.54.
• Approved an agreement between the Campbell City School District and Supplemental Educational Services, Inc. to provide staff for delivery of Title I services to Campbell students who attend Valley Christian School in the amount of $25,719.88.
• Approved an agreement between the Campbell City School District and Supplemental Educational Services, Inc. to provide staff for delivery of Title I services to Campbell students who attend Cardinal Mooney High School in the amount of $3,025.87.
• Approved an agreement between the Campbell City School District and Supplemental Educational Services, Inc. to provide staff for delivery of Title I services to Campbell students who attend ACLD in Youngstown in the amount of $3,025.87.
• Approved a lease agreement between Campbell City Schools and Alta Head Start to operate a Head Start / Early Head Start program in the district.
• Approved a Memorandum of Understanding between Sight For All United, Inc. (SFAU) and Campbell City School District, where SFAU will provide a referral program and alerts to families regarding vision, referrals and eye health. This service will be provided at no cost to the school, students or families.
• Approved an agreement between the Mahoning Valley Regional Council of Governments and Campbell City Schools to purchase services for the positions of 21st Century Programs site coordinator at $25 per hour and 21st Century Programs site facilitator at $25 per hour.
• Approved the following appointments: Timothy Esarco, educational assistant at Campbell Memorial High School, $14.28 per hour; Jacqueline LaTorre, cook's helper, $13.95 per hour; and Stephanie Benson, student monitor at the CLWCC/ CHCDC, $13.91 per hour.
• Approved the appointment of the following individuals to the certified positions of after-school teachers for the 2026-27 school year: Maggie Bork, Grace Papini, Justine Truslow, Dominique Galletta, Katelyn Scurpa and Susan Viars.

Trumbull County
WHAT: Regular commissioners meeting Wednesday
PRESENT: Tony Bernard, Rick Hernandez and Denny Malloy
Commissioners:
• Adopted a resolution proclaiming September as Addiction Recovery Month in Trumbull County for its 37th annual observance.
• Adopted a resolution proclaiming Sept. 13 to 19 as Direct Support Professional Work Recognition Week in Trumbull County in conjunction with the national observance.
• Voted to approve a $17,010.47 change order with Declan Construction of Brookfield for its renovation work on the Trumbull County Coroner's Office.
• Approved the annual payment of $2,500 to the Trumbull County Family & Children's First Council.
• Approved a $250 payment to the Ohio County Dog Warden Association for the county's executive dog warden's associate membership.
• Passed a resolution approving $83,701.78 contracts between the Trumbull County Sheriff's Office and seven area school districts for school resource officers. The districts are Joseph Badger, Bloomfield-Mespo, Bristol, Champion, John F. Kennedy, Newton Falls and Trumbull Career & Technical Center.
• Appointed John Hinke as a member of the Trumbull County Board of Developmental Disabilities.
• Voted 2-1 to appoint John Moliterno as an alternate member representing Commissioner Rick Hernandez during the twice a month Western Reserve Port Authority meetings. Denny Malloy voted against the appointment.
• Heard from Trumbull County Prosecutor Dennis Watkins, who agreed to allow an assistant county prosecutor to remain a voting member on the Trumbull County Budget Commission until the end of 2026. Afterwards, commissioners will have to appoint a member of its office to sit on the budget commission.
• Announced there will be no weekly workshop or regular meeting next week. The next workshop will be at 10 a.m. Sept. 15.
