Man suffers gunshot wound on Youngstown’s South Side
YOUNGSTOWN — A man was shot in the arm at a home on East Lucius Avenue on the South Side at 10:19 p.m. Thursday.
Youngstown police officers applied a tourniquet to the man’s arm to stop the bleeding when they arrived.
Officers were called to the home for a shooting and made contact with the victim in a bedroom. Two officers followed a blood trail to the rear of the house, where they looked inside the garage to ensure there were not more victims and to make sure the suspect was not still there.
That is when officers saw a bullet shell casing by the side garage door on the ground and a six-shot revolver on top of a pack of roofing shingles, a police report states.
An officer then spoke to the mother of the victim, who said she did not own any firearms and had just arrived home from work when the a occurred.
Ambulance personnel arrived after that and took the victim to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital.
The handgun and the spent bullet casing were collected as evidence. The gun had been reported stolen, the report states.
The report did not state what the victim’s condition was.
