WHAT: City council meeting June 8

PRESENT: Reynold Paolone, John Moliterno, Lily Martuccio, Keith Schubert, James Clark, Thomas Grumley, Todd Latell, Wes Steiner and Mayor Mark Zuppo

Council:

• Heard from Grumley that when fiber optic companies dig up residents’ yards, they need to repair and fix them. He said residents can be expected to wait for long periods of time with holes in their yards. Safety Service Director Glenn Holmes said crews have been working on Dravis Street to restore the properties. Residents are concerned companies have hit waterlines and a gas line where a house exploded in April. Officials said there has been little digging since the explosion.

• Heard from Grumley of the need to get property at 113 Morris St. demolished because of it being uninhabitable and in poor condition.

• Heard from fire Chief James Petruzzi that from January through May, out-of-city emergency medical service transports cost $18,650.

• Approved seeking $22,000 through the Ohio Department of Natural Resources for recreational purposes, including exercise equipment for Tod Park.

• Entered into a Community Housing Impact Preservation partnership with Niles, Cortland and Hubbard for sharing the funds for residents to apply for and use for enhancements of properties. Residents can apply for the CHIP funds.

• Will have KO Consulting attend a caucus at 6 p.m. Monday to discuss what grants they have obtained for the city.

• Are discussing video taping of council meetings like other communities. Paolone said years ago, meetings were recorded.

• Bob Coupland
