Witnesses report seeing man in gold Jeep firing gun near kids
Staff report
YOUNGSTOWN — Witnesses said a male in a gold car fired gunshots while arguing with two “kids” on Dryden Avenue on the East Side Wednesday evening.
Youngstown police were called to Dryden Avenue at 7:24 p.m. Wednesday for a gunfire call and spoke to people at a home on Dryden who said they saw a male in a goldish Jeep arguing with some “kids” and then pointed the gun at them and shot two times.
While officers were looking for a spent bullet shell casing, a neighbor told officers he saw a Hispanic male in a goldish, two-door, older Jeep arguing with two kids and fired two shots at them.
One of the witnesses said he saw the male parked on Scioto Avenue. Officers did not find any bullet shell casings.
Officers went to Scioto Avenue, which is a short distance from Dryden, and found an older two-door gold Jeep and tried multiple times to make contact with someone at the home, but no one came to the door, though they could hear a male talking inside the home.
Officers later spoke with the mother of the kids, who said her son was playing with his friends on Dryden Avenue when a male pulled up, asking them if they had a problem, pointed a pistol at them, then fired the pistol at them, and then fired it two times in the air before driving off, the report states.
The boy gave police the “same story.” The report does not indicate that officers ever were able to make contact with anyone at the house where the gold Jeep was located
