Road work ahead for interstates, US Route 224, Wick Avenue, more

The Ohio Department of Transportation has announced several road closures and lane adjustments for various projects in Mahoning County:

● Beginning Monday, Interstate 76/Interstate 80 (Ohio Turnpike) between state Route 11 to just west of the Ohio Turnpike in Austintown and Jackson townships will have various shoulder closures for pavement repairs. The estimated completion date is late October.

● The ramp from state Route 164 to Interstate 680 northbound is closed through mid-May for paving. The detour is Route 164 to Western Reserve Road to Interstate 680.

● Beginning Monday through Wednesday, traffic on U.S. Route 224 over Interstate 80/Ohio Turnpike in Canfield Township will be stopped in short intervals (up to 15 minutes) nightly between 9 p.m. and 7 a.m. for bridge beam placement.

● Beginning May 18, Wick Avenue over U.S. Route 422 near the YSU campus will be closed through late August for a bridge deck replacement.

The northbound detour will be West Rayen Avenue to Fifth Avenue to Park Avenue to Elm Street to Madison Avenue to McGuffey Road. The southbound detour will be McGuffey Road to Madison Avenue to Fifth Avenue to West Rayen Avenue.
