Council:
• Heard from Trumbull County Treasurer Agostino Raggozino who discussed delinquent property taxes from businesses in the village and what steps are being done at the county level to secure those owed funds. Raggozino said those companies that are certified delinquent meet with the treasurer’s office to establish a payment plan.
• Approved up to $1,875 to Brian Frantz for additional work to be a consultant for the village on planning and zoning issues related to data centers.
• Heard from Building/Grounds Supervisor Martin Nelder that Taylor Steel will redo the track on Industrial Trace with traffic to be rerouted June 1 to 8. He said the bridge on Ellsworth Bailey Road will have work done in July with traffic on the road to be kept to one lane during work.
• Approved the purchase of a 2026 salt truck at $238,676 through the Ohio cooperative purchasing program from Western Star.
• Discussed future plans to allow people to pay water bills with credit cards instead of just cash and checks.
• Approved Andrew Kozely for a new assistant position in the planning/zoning and economic development office at $23.79 per hour.
• Approved installation of a light pole at $14,350 from Main Lite Electric Company to be installed at the intersection of Bailey Road and Hallock Young Road South.
• Entered into an agreement with Verdantas LLC for consulting and professional services at $13,860 for the village and $6,700 for the board of public affairs.
• Approved the purchase of firearms, accessories and ammunition from Vance’s Law Enforcement at $7,603 for the police department.
• Approved the purchase of a 2025 Chevrolet Tahoe at $53,776 from Ganley Chevrolet of Aurora.
• Hired Jonathan Frank and Ben Sinn as summer help for the road department.
