A passenger died in a car crash at 9 p.m. Wednesday on McGuffey Road in Coitsville Township, the Ohio State Highway Patrol reports.

An OSP Canfield news release states passenger Shun Moreland, 53, of Struthers, died in the crash.

David Coleman, 48, of Youngstown, was driving a 2019 Kia Optima eastbound on McGuffey and traveled off the left side of the road, striking a mailbox, the release states. The Kia then overturned, struck a culvert and then a telephone pole, where it came to rest.

Coleman suffered nonlife-threatening injuries and was transported to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital. Moreland was transported to St. Elizabeth’s, where he died. Neither the driver or the passenger was wearing a seat belt, the release states. The crash remains under investigation.
