3-year-old falls out of second-floor window, suffers cuts
YOUNGSTOWN — A 3-year-old boy was taken to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital with apparent minor injuries Saturday after a neighbor found the boy under an open, second-floor window the boy had apparently fallen out of while his mother slept.
When Youngstown police arrived at the home on Canfield Road for the 12:04 p.m. call, he saw a neighbor holding the boy. The neighbor said he heard the boy crying beneath an open window. The officer estimated the window to be about 10 feet off the ground.
Soon after the officer arrived, the boy’s mother came outside crying and stating that she “didn’t know.” She said she got off work at 10 a.m. and was sleeping. She said the boy “has been left by himself in his room before, and she thought it was secure.”
Ambulance personnel arrived and assessed the boy. “They found two small abrasions and no apparent serious injuries,” the report states.
The boy and his mother were taken to the hospital “for further assessment and treatment.”
