Commissioners:
•Accepted a “Are You a Veteran with questions about benefits” sign from the Trumbull County Veterans Service Commission that will be placed on the first floor of Trumbull County’s administration building.
•Recognized April as Child Abuse Prevention Month. Commissioners are expected to attend the 21st annual Pinwheels for Prevention event at Warren G. Harding High School at 1:30 p.m. April 1, where 1,373 pinwheels will be placed. Each pinwheel represents a child from which there was a report of child abuse or neglect during 2025.
•Announced they are seeking bids for the Logangate Road resurfacing project, which is being 80% funded through a Surface Transportation Block Grant obtained through the Eastgate Regional Council of Governments. The project consists of the resurfacing of Logangate Road between Logan Way and U.S. Route 62 in Liberty. No general fund revenue will be used to pay for the project.
•Hired The Thrasher Group Inc. for $298,958 to provide engineering services for the Lane West Road project in Warren Township, which will add a new access road for phase I of the BDM-state Route 45 project.
•Hired Glaus, Pyle, Schomer, Burns and Dehaven Inc. for $382,977 to provide engineering services for the Burnett East road reconstruction project, phase 2, of the BDM-state Route 45 new access road in Warren Township.
•Hired MS Consultants Inc. to provide professional engineering services for phase 3 of the BDM-state Route 45 project located in Warren, Howland, and Weathersfield in the amount of $1,340,518. All three contracts are being paid for through a subrecipient grant agreement between Trumbull County and the Western Reserve Port Authority using Ohio Department of Development All Ohio Future funds.
•Approved a contract with Phillips, Sekanick Architects Inc., for $5,000, plus up to $1,000 in reimbursements, for the design development of a detached garage and storage space in the Veteran Services Commission parking lot, 253 E. Market St., Warren.
•Voted to support Akron Children’s Hospital by providing a letter of support to send with their application seeking 2027-28 state capital funding for the Warren Health Center project, which is underway, as well as a separate letter of support for fiscal year congressional designated funding.
•Voted to provide letters of support for Liberty’s roof-first preservation of the 1913 mausoleum/chapel at Belmont Park Cemetery. One letter supports a $245,000 Community Project funding request to Congressman David Joyce, R-Bainbridge. The second will be sent to state Sen. Sandra O’Brien, R-Lenox, to support a state capital budget community project.
•Provided a letter of support for Trumbull Neighborhood Partnership’s application for the T-Mobile Hometown Grant and Main Street America to enhance North Park Commons, 347 N. Park Avenue in Warren.
