Man shot while in car on Pyatt Street on Sunday
YOUNGSTOWN — A man suffered two gunshot wounds during a 5:45 p.m. Sunday shooting on Pyatt Street just north of downtown Youngstown.
A Youngstown police report states that two people were traveling east in a car on Pyatt Street when a black vehicle coming the other direction crossed in front of them. A light-skinned black man “exited or leaned from the vehicle and began firing shots at their vehicle,” the report states.
The witness said he or she heard four or five gunshots and then saw that the male in his or her car had been hit. They went to the hospital. The witness said he or she did not know what type of car the shooter was driving.
Hospital personnel said the victim suffered one gunshot wound of the arm and another to the arm pit area. It was not known whether that was from one gunshot or two.
An officer looked at the car the victims were using. It had a shattered driver’s side window and bullet holes in the head rest of the driver’s seat and one in the “seat back.”
Police went to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital, where they spoke with the witness.
