Robbery of pizza delivery driver reported on W. Side
YOUNGSTOWN — A pizza delivery driver was robbed of cash at North Meridian Road and Oregon Avenue at 8:48 p.m. Tuesday by two men in a dark green Jeep.
The driver told police he was supposed to deliver a pizza to a home on Oregon Avenue. When he got to Oregon Avenue from North Meridian, he saw the Jeep parked on the street on Meridian, and the driver flagged him down. He stopped his car, and the man “asked him for his money while he had his hands in his hoodie like he had a gun,” a Youngstown police report states.
The driver gave them the cash he had, and the suspects drove off toward Meridian Road.
Officers checked as they headed north on Meridian from Mahoning Avenue but did not see a green Jeep, the report states. The officers proceeded to the house on Oregon Avenue, and a woman who “stated she does not know anyone with a Jeep,” insisted on closing the door while officers were at her home, the report notes.
The driver said he called the woman he was supposed to deliver the pizza to when the robbery took place to let her know about it. He said he has delivered pizza to the address where the robbery took place previously and, therefore, does not think the men came from that address.
The driver described the robbers as wearing “a hoodie and a ski mask.”
