Notary Fraud Alert system unveiled in Mahoning

YOUNGSTOWN — A Notary Fraud Alert system, the first in Northeastern Ohio, was unveiled last week by Fidlar Technologies representative Greg Sullivan at the Mahoning County Recorder’s Office.

According to Mahoning County Recorder Richard S. Scarsella, “The Notary Fraud Alert allows notaries to be notified when their notary seal has been used on a document filed in this office. This notification can prevent fraud, should the notary seal be used in an unauthorized or illegal way. This service is free to notaries and helps preserve the integrity of the public records in our county.”

Notary Fraud Alert joins the Property Fraud Alert, which the Mahoning County Recorder’s Office has used since 2019. This service is a free notification that notifies subscribers against the possibilities of fraudulent activity being committed against their property. Scarsella encourages the public to sign up for these services. For more information, contact the Mahoning County Recorder’s Office at 330-740-2345.

Starting at $3.23/week.
