Liberty police seek info about Harbor Freight break-in
LIBERTY — Township police are looking to identify a pair of individuals involved in breaking into a local business and stealing several items.
Officers responded to the Belmont Avenue Harbor Freight Saturday morning for a breaking and entering report, with dispatchers telling officers that the store’s keyholder was at the scene and the rear door was broken.
The report states that an officer who arrived at the scene found the east side rear overhead door damaged. Wet tire tracks leading to the door and a blue vape also were found on the ground outside of the receiving bay area’s door, and the vape was collected as evidence.
Liberty officers, along with a Trumbull County Sheriff’s Office K-9 unit, sent a dog into the store to make sure no one was inside.
The report states officers entered the store and found several boxed items in its receiving area and near the door, noting a Bauer disk sander and a Doyle carpenter’s vice were laying in an aisle. Two other items, a Predator Auger powerhead and a Predator water pump, were found on a roll cart on the floor near the door.
The report states the store’s keyholder said tools — a brushless cultivator, a powerhead, several bench grinders and other items — appeared to have been taken by the suspect.
The store’s keyholder said the store’s return merchandise area was also opened, and it appeared that someone had gone through its containers.
The report states that the security footage from the store’s manager showed a white SUV pulling into the lot around 5:02 a.m. and a man entering the receiving area carrying a hammer.
The report states that, after several minutes of attempting to enter via the store’s front door, the man drove into the store’s receiving dock and struck its roll-up door with his vehicle to gain entry.
The report states the man entered the receiving area and took several items, putting them outside in the loading dock, while a woman wearing a black Adidas outfit exited the SUV and helped load the items into the vehicle before leaving the scene together.
The police department posted pictures of the suspects on Facebook Monday, seeking the public’s help in identifying them.
