Farmers market to start Feb. 12 at main library branch

Staff report

YOUNGSTOWN — Thrive Mahoning Valley will launch the Downtown Youngstown Farmers Market on Feb. 12 at the Public Library of Youngstown & Mahoning County main branch, 305 Wick Ave.

The market will run 4 to 7:30 p.m. on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month, providing fresh, local produce and products.

The market will be indoors during the winter months and outside in the parking lot during warmer months.

Vicki Vicars, lead organizer of the Downtown Youngstown Farmers Market, said, “Our community deserves year-round opportunities to purchase fresh foods, and this indoor market will help bridge the gap during the colder months while supporting the farmers and small businesses who make our region unique.”

Vicars said having Youngstown State University across the street from the library “offers us a wonderful opportunity to provide for students as well. We are particularly excited to cater to the international students.”

In addition to local produce and products, the market also will have food demonstrations and nutrition information.

There are children’s activities 4 to 6 p.m. at each market.

Starting at $3.23/week.
