Seats filled in Poland Village and Township
Poland Village voters had four seats to fill with five choices to do so. The choice was made and the unofficial results from the Mahoning County Board of Elections came in with Chris Graff carrying 25%, followed by newcomer Becky Rudzik with 22%, Laurie LaPlante with 19%, incumbent Abbie Bosak with 17% and incumbent Samuel Moffie bowing out with 16%.
While the numbers represent 100% of the precincts counted, the vote remains unofficial until provisional ballots are counted by the Mahoning County Board of Elections.
“I am humbled by the opportunity given to me by the community,” Graff said.
Rudzik was emotional Tuesday night.
“I am both super excited and a little bit terrified … but mostly looking forward to being part of something bigger and helping Poland to be an even better place to call home,” she said.
LaPlante thanked Poland voters for their confidence.
“Your support and hard work made this victory possible, and I am deeply humbled to serve as your next village council member. This election was about our shared vision for Poland’s future, a future where we protect our beloved small-town character while embracing smart, responsible growth.”
Bosak is eager to finish what she started as an incumbent.
“I am beyond grateful to be honored with the opportunity to continue to represent my neighbors as a member of Poland Village Council,” she said.
POLAND TOWNSHIP
In Poland Township, the number running was larger with six vying for two trustee seats. Unofficial results have Frank DeMain taking the lead with 31% of the vote. Next in line was incumbent Edward Kempers with 21% to keep his seat.
Other candidates posted unofficial results as follows: Tracy Kaschak with 15%, Michael Zembower Jr. with 14%, Steve Massarelli with 10% and Larry Dinopoulos with 9%.
“Safety will continue to be the No. 1 goal. Transparency, efficient spending of tax dollars, and mutual respect with our community will also continue to be important. I look forward to working with our new trustee Frank DeMain for the next four years,” Kempers said.
DeMain said: “I’m honored and grateful to have been elected as Poland Township trustee.
“My focus as trustee is clear: Support our police, fire, and EMS to keep Poland safe, maintain strong fiscal responsibility and transparency, and preserve the unique history and character that make Poland Township home. I look forward to working with residents, community partners, and fellow trustees to ensure Poland remains a place we’re all proud to call home.”
