WHAT: Board of education meeting Monday

PRESENT: Shawn Chrystal, Janine Hamilton, Hans Kirr, David Malone and Kara Morgan

The board:

•Approved a memorandum of understanding between the board of education and Liberty Association of School Employees for a service credit on their salary schedule, meaning employees who have worked in another school system or had a comparable position in business, industry or other public service in the same classification may be given credit for each year of experience on the appropriate salary schedule.

•Approved the district’s schedule of premises rental fees.

•Approved transferring $50,000 from the general fund to district-managed activity — athletics, for the 2026 fiscal year.

•Authorized the purchase of one 72-passenger conventional school bus chassis and body that was bid through the Ohio Schools Council.

•Approved FMLA leave for William Cripe starting Nov. 7, 2025; his expected return date is March 1, 2026.

•Approved Lara Coulter, Janice Semple and Harlie Stanton as licensed substitutes for the 2025-26 school year.

•Accepted a $156 donation from Donors Choose for the purchase of food, clothing and hygiene items for Allie Gumont’s classroom.

•Accepted a $1,865 donation from Spot-Lite Entertainment LTD for the district’s track and field team.

WHAT: Board of trustees meeting Monday

PRESENT: Arnie Clebone and Greg Cizmar

ABSENT: Devon Stanley

The board:

• Swore in police officer Robert Altier as detective sergeant. He was promoted Oct. 23.

• Heard from Township Administrator Martha Weirick the township holiday tree lighting will be Dec. 6 on the front lawn of the township administration building, with Santa appearing at 5 p.m.

• Heard from Road Superintendent Wayne Hickman the township has 700 tons of salt ready for the upcoming winter.

• Approved adopting a revised emergency action plan for the use of automated external defibrillators at the township baseball fields.

• Approved the township’s policy for personal use of reward program points accrued while conducting public business.

• Approved the township’s policy for exempt employee leave time applicability.
