ODOT: High-profile vehicles banned from turnpike today, Thursday
With high winds, rain and snow predicted for northern Ohio today and Thursday, the Ohio Department of Transportation has issued a travel ban for all high-profile vehicles beginning at 8 a.m. today and continuing until 11:59 p.m. Thursday night.
ODOT defines high-profile vehicles as any exceeding 7 feet, 6 inches. The ban includes all 241 miles of the Ohio Turnpike.
The banned vehicles include:
• All high-profile, tow-behind trailers, campers, boats and enclosed trailers. Fifth wheel trailers are excluded.
• Commercial trucks towing an empty single 53-foot trailer.
• All mobile homes, office trailers and livestock trailers.
• All long-combination vehicles (LCV) that include long double-trailer combinations exceeding 90-feet in length. (Enclosed trailers only, including Conestoga typetrailers).
• All LCV triple-trailer combinations.
• Two-axle buses longer than 40 feet.
• Buses with three or more axles greater than 45 feet.
