Akron woman, 75, arrested in Boardman on 4th OVI in 10 years

BOARDMAN — Bernice Lemaster, 75, of Akron, was charged with felony operating a motor vehicle under the influence Monday night — her fourth OVI in the last 10 years.

She was scheduled for an arraignment Tuesday morning in Mahoning County Area Court in Boardman.

About 6:21 p.m. Monday, a concerned citizen reported a vehicle driving erratically and unable to maintain its lane, according to an Ohio State Highway Patrol news release.

Troopers located the vehicle, a 2012 silver Ford Fusion, on Shields Road near West Boulevard in Boardman.

Shortly after getting behind the vehicle eastbound on Shields Road, a trooper observed it travel off the right side of the road and strike a construction sign before returning to the road. The vehicle was stopped without further incident.

Lemaster was determined to be under the influence of alcohol following field sobriety tests.

After her arrest, it was discovered that she had three prior OVI convictions within the last 10 years. She has been charged with a fourth-degree felony OVI, as well as a marked-lanes violation. If convicted, she faces 6 to 18 months in prison and a $5,000 fine, the release states.

Starting at $3.23/week.
