Warren man pleads to attempted pandering sexually oriented matter

YOUNGSTOWN — Jamarion M. Aaron, 24, of Warren pleaded guilty Thursday to attempted pandering sexually oriented matter involving a minor, a mid-level felony, and got a prosecutor recommendation of three years in prison.

Mahoning County Common Pleas Court Judge John Durkin heard Aaron’s plea and set a sentencing hearing for 10 a.m. Nov. 20.

In exchange for Aaron’s plea, prosecutors are dismissing three other charges, all high-level felonies.

Aaron will be classified a tier 2 sex offender who must register in the place where he lives when he leaves prison every 180 days for 25 years. Aaron’s indictment alleged the offenses occurred in 2023 and 2024.

The details of the offense were not available Thursday, but the charge Aaron pleaded guilty to states that he attempted to “create, record, photograph, film, develop, reproduce or publish any material that shows a minor … participating in sexual activity” or certain other activities.

Aaron’s attorney, Michael Kivlighan, is expected to argue for his client to get probation and no prison time. Aaron could get up to five years in prison on the third-degree felony. If Aaron would have been convicted of all of the charges in his indictment, he could have gotten over 30 years in prison.

Aaron has been in the Mahoning County jail since April 11, according to jail records.
